In my view, some of the most important resistance to Trump 2.0 comes from the WSJ editorial writers, who criticize Trump 2.0 much more frequently than Trump 1.0. In fact, I resubscribed to the WSJ in 2016 because I wanted to see how the editorial pages, which are typically staunch supporters of Republican administrations, were going to handle Trump 1.0.<\/p>\n

Today they reported the salient facts that Trump announced his opposition to the new bridge connecting Detroit and Canada after the commerce secretary, Herald Ludnick, met with the owner of a competing bridge who will benefit from the new bridge never coming into operation. What surprised me was not that the WSJ would come out against this crony capitalism.<\/p>\n

The final line in the editorial “Trump\u2019s Crony Canadian Bridgegate<\/a>” made me laugh out loud. They write:<\/p>\n

If Democrats retake the House this fall, the Trump Administration will spend its final two years working in the shade, because it\u2019ll be hard to see the sun through flying subpoenas.<\/em><\/p>\n
